I'm in the last stages of a cold today. Ordinarily, nothing worth even noting. But it so happens this is my fourth cold of the winter. Four! Usually I get one, or maybe, maybe two colds for the winter. Now, I move to New York, I get four.
Is it because of New York? I do come seem to rub shoulders with an insane number of people every day, mostly on the subway. Or perhaps it is just because my kids are toddlers now, and getting out and playing with other children? Whatever the cause, I calculate I've been sick about a fifth of the time this winter. And it's not just me. Almost everyone at work has been out sick with at least two serious colds or flus. So, I think it's just New York.
Maybe I should eat more kimchi.
Posted by ahyatt at March 15, 2005 01:19 PMYeah, no doubt. I hadn't gotten sick for something like 7 years, and then I move here and got the flu. But that was Hollander's fault (or rather, his girlfriend Beth's fault).

Posted by: Tash on March 17, 2005 09:07 AMI hadn't been sick since I moved back to St. Louis three years ago, but recently a co-worker came to work sick and coughed for 8 hours straight (and has continued to do so for the last 3 weeks). Two days later I, and most everybody nearby got sick. It spread rapidly from there. I think that there's just some nasty bugs going around this winter. And stupid people go to work sick and share them. Grr.
