My friend Brian has just started a Photolog. He intends to put a picture up a day. I was initially very impressed. I thought that he must have a very interesting life to be able to take an interesting photo every day. I know if I tried that my pictures would be like "Here's me at home", "Here's me at home again", "Still home", "The balcony below me", "An interesting spot on the carpet", etc. But now I see the photo's can be from any time, he'll just post them at a rate of one per day. So how is it a log then?
But I find his pictures (so far, there are only two), to be interesting and well framed. I'll have to add it to my daily reading material. I'll also add it to the side frame sometime today.
Posted by ahyatt at May 27, 2003 06:57 AMThere are several different ways to handle the theme of a fotolog. Some people treat them like daily logs and take new photos each day to upload. I don't have enough time/energy/devotion to do that. At first, I also thought that I didn't have an interesting enough life to pull that off, but the best fotologgers have such good eyes that they can see interesting photos in rather mundane surroundings.
Some people have an overall theme for their fotologs, like the guy who only posts photos where people have red eye, or the one about people kissing, or the one that's devoted to funny signs, or cypher's that depicts what he eats every day (thus combining the daily log with a theme).
You could also use a fotolog to post photo essays in series format.
I thought about only posting photos that were taken in St. Louis, but the audience for that kind of thing is probably pretty limited.
I think my theme will end up being "interesting photos I've taken." Kind of vague, but I've got a pretty big back catalog to choose from.
BTW, I added a link to your blog from my fotolog.
